We forgot who it was for #fwastrong #fenceshow #lasvegas #fence #fenceman
In this episode, the conversation centers on why industry shows and events need to return to their original purpose: serving attendees, especially fence companies, rather than simply existing as a checkbox for businesses and vendors. The speaker emphasizes that the fence industry should be about supporting one another instead of creating divisions, and notes that seeing more younger professionals at the FW show is encouraging because it signals a new generation of “their people” entering the trade. The discussion also reflects on how trade shows have drifted from their roots. According to the speaker, many companies attend out of fear of being perceived as closed or out of business, rather than because the event truly benefits them. The ideal, he argues, is to reshape these shows into experiences that help fence contractors discover suppliers, build relationships, and connect with the industry in a meaningful way. If events are designed around the needs of fence companies, they can grow naturally and attract more attendees who are there to learn, network, and find resources—not just sales reps and transactional buyers.
