Good luck cutting through this - Gibraltar has it figured out

Episode Summary

At Fence Tech 2025, Jeff from Gibraltar showcased the company’s high-security fencing solutions, emphasizing that the products are built for critical infrastructure rather than residential use. He highlighted Gibraltar’s “Integrate” and “Ingrid Max” systems, which are designed for petrochemical facilities, power utilities, data centers, nuclear sites, and other locations where intrusion resistance matters. The fencing combines clear visibility with serious anti-cut protection, passing aggressive F2781-15 certification testing that includes power saw attacks intended to create a 2-by-2-foot breach. Jeff explained that the fence’s structure is intentionally engineered to frustrate attackers and improve detection. The front uses tight welded wire that prevents finger holds, while the back layer is left unfastened to create vibration and noise if someone tries to cut through it, helping damage blades and trigger security sensors. The system is installed on 4-inch posts and arrives in panels that are bolted in place, with custom heights and finishes available. He noted that even with tools like axes, cutters, plasma torches, or chop saws, breaching the fence can take significant time, making it a strong deterrent for high-security applications.

All right we're over at fence Tech 2025 we got Jeff from jalter tell us a little bit about this jalter is by the way I'm from Las Vegas so you know jalter I mean you go down that Las Vegas strip and what do you see about 8,000 B somewhere around there on the convention center yeah we're actually putting another probably 400 in you're not done I mean it's it's going in everywhere all down the and they are they are nicel looking Ballers too so yeah that and functional I think they've been hit about 20 times really and we haven't even had to replace one yeah why wouldn't I don't know what you would hit that thing to make or a tank it would take to get one of them things over pretty much yeah but you do a lot more than Ballers we do that's why we're a fence Tech so we don't just do Ballers we do fencing um we are a high security company though so it's not residential fencing it's not like the picket style you know we do stuff like the Palisade High security and this is one of our products called integrate is um and it's we do this more for petrochemical power utility these some data center stuff like that it's got a clear view where you can see through it but it's also pass allm f278 1-15 certified cut testing so on this one with the aggressive testing so they can take a uh a chopsaw yep gas power chopsaw with everything and it still takes them 10 minutes to make a 2 by two hole and this is really unique I mean just touching it feels it feels sturdy and I know it feels sturdy obviously probably because of these inserts you have in between the two so and it comes standard with this on the front this mesh on the front and the mesh on the back and then tell me about this plates in the middle see if we can zoom in here and show them exactly what we're talking about what is that about four or five Ines uh it is is it 5 in I believe it is yeah so there is a it's almost like a a a trust system in a way and and these things are probably a certain distance apart to make it to where it's harder even if you manage to cut this you're not going to be crawling through this correct and on the front side the the the welded wire is a/ inch by 3 in so you can't even get a finger hold in it and on the back side it's one inch by three inches but interesting but the back side's not fastened okay so we're on the back right now what it does is it vibrates when they try and cut it oh it makes noise it not only makes noise but it it will jack up a blade on a chopsaw on a heartbeat it vibrates too much wow what I mean is that something that's uh specific to you guys I've never seen that before it is it's it's one of the reasons we build it that way because it it helps really bolster the the cut test so we can you know extend that that range and this is our medium duty product or our high-end which is we call our Ingrid Max has a cross-hatch system that's kind of C you know XX about up about that high and then this sty above that uh so there you go guys this this wasn't just to cut down and save money by not welding it it was uh it had a purpose it it has it has a purpose it's for strengthening the system yes so tell me about cutting through this I mean obviously there's that that that's a big deal when you're talking about security how long would it take we're on the back but they're going to start on the front normally how long would it take to cut through that first layer get the second and make your way through this so there's three different styles they do and one is a uh hand tools the first time they try and use like a fire axe and stuff like that to get through it and um I don't even think they got through it in an hour I I don't I don't imagine on the first on the first one so then the medium one is more hand tolls you know Cutters and stuff like that and it took them 22.9 minutes just to make a 2T x two foot and you haven't even got through the metal yet right so that's just if you wanted just just if you're just wanted some exercise and you were just cutting this mesh off for the hell of it because even if you cut it off you still got this this structure inside that you haven't even begun to work on after 30 minutes you got to get the 2 by two hole so then the third one is the aggressive and that's where you'll use a plasma cutter you'll use a plasma torch or a chop saw you know something really big that you can walk up to any fencing make a hole and walk through yeah this one took 10 over 10 minutes for them to even get a hole that was 2T X 2ot so that you can try and squeeze through yeah so it's uh it's great for high

Security locations nuclear sites um Power utilities stuff where you really want to keep the bad guys out and if you have a good warning system on here like um trying to think is some of the name Southwest microwave or some of them that have the detection systems when the fence is too too rigid they don't set off you put them on the backside here with that bouncing that vibration sets off that detection system and at the security office they'll know two miles away that at this Zone somebody's trying to get in so this looks like it would be difficult for us to make in the field does this come in like three different pieces and we got to somehow put it together no the the so you'll see there's a there's a post here so it's a 4in post okay that's what goes in the ground this panel comes Shi to you all you do is slide it down and then Bol it in from the inside how wide are the panel uh 10 foot 10 foot wide and how you can make them whatever height you want whatever height so it's all pretty much a custom order for that for that project different colors everything it's all custom you can have this thing powder coated something else powder coated or just galvanized either way nice let's go over here and show them how thick this is so you're seeing the post but you can't just look at the post you're looking at this whole thing so it slides down and then also comes over to the side of the post and that's a round post inside correct it's just round it's a a 3inch post 2 and 7 in post or three inch post or something three inch post yeah and then over here you can see that this is small you're not climbing this yeah it's hard to get your get your fingers in there it's it is the anti-lam uh anti- skill and that is I mean you just touch it and it just feels like it's beefy yeah yeah all right Jeff thank you for showing us this very welcome where can they see this thing next at the fence show at the fence show and security Expo in Las Vegas absolutely we'll see
